  What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy? Connection: the importance of every day connection with people To make a connection with others, each party needs to share in some shape or form. Face to face connection is important for wellbeing and connectedness Sharing on class sites - power of children sharing their learning with each other When young people are learning and sharing with others, they feel a part of something and it brings people and children together. Teaching and learning being visible - makes it available and accessible to both teachers and learners Cultural Capital: How the background you come from influences how you read and deal with certain situations Multi Modal - hooking learners into learning and empowering them so they are confident and successful Multi Modal - All about communicating information from one person to another Manaiakalani Priority Goals/Principles: engagement, personalised learning, acceleration, empowerment Giving them the skills to be a lifelong learner as they have the ability to access learning online - setting them up for life.   What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy? The importance of SHARE - how powerful it is for students to share their learning to their teachers and others so they can be recognised/celebrated. Sharing to an authentic audience. Face to face sharing vs. through a screen - missing the human connection/one-to-one Social media being the only platform where you can share with people you haven't met from all over the world. Important thought - how can we teach our students to be digital citizens who share positively and securely online. Blogger platform is teaching our learners to be cyber smart. Hard to teach students how to be digital citizens if they aren't engaging in it Share - a way in which we can show that I have finished a piece of learning work.
