What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy?
- Manaiakalani was established in 2006
- It is an initiative that works with learners and teachers to motivate and engage in the curriculum
- Goal is to support learning in a digital environment.


What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow as a professional?
- That if learners are not shown basic formatting, they won't know it. This can have a flow on effect into their future skills and abilities in a digital world.
- It is important for teachers to spend time teaching skills and not assume that all learners know the basics.
- Community of learners: learning alongside other people from all across the country

What did I learn that could be used with my learners?  
- Voice type is a great tool on Google Docs that I could incorporate into my classroom/teaching practise.
- Table, contents and heading settings on Google Docs.

What did I learn that could improve my confidence, capability or workflow in my personal life?
- If I ever have to prepare professional documents, I am learning the skills to format a document properly and correctly.

    Thanks for sharing all your thoughts on todays session. There are so many neat tools that we can use with our learners and it is wonderful to get these 9 weeks of PLG to have them introduced to us and get the opportunity to use them. By introducing them to our learners now, they will be able to build on them in their learning and for their futures. I look forward to seeing you again on Friday.

 Manaiakalani Pedagogy - Ubiquitous Learning - Putting the learner at the centre of all decisions so educators have their best learning needs at the centre of all decisions.  - The idea that you are a learner anytime, anywhere.  - The ability to learn digitally out of school and not with the teacher sitting right next to you.  - Being able to leave the resources and be able to access valuable learning when teachers aren't in the classroom  - If learning is available online, it is rewindable for students  - Lock down showed that majority of learning was through a screen of some sort (device, tablet, TV etc).  - The tools of a student having a device and access to the internet is life changing.  - "If it's worth teaching and learning its worth capturing".   What did I learn that increased my understanding of Manaiakalani kaupapa and pedagogy? Empowerment - learners and teachers through the digital age. "The Maniakalani kaupapa of empowerment is about advancing Rangatiratanga: taking back control of their own lifes. Need to actively show teachers the power of a digital tool for their learners. Voice - choice - ownership: learning being exciting and engaging as if it isn't, students won't by in and complete it. Empowering students on digital devices so they can be creators and show their voice through their digital learning.
